MIX-USE OFFICE

Merzifon Business and Life Center brings together two cases; the ordinary and constant daily practices of the ‘Business Center’ and the active association of the ‘Life Center’ which is enriched with public and social facilities. In this sense, the location of the ‘Life Center’ which socially supports the Business Center and the functional organization relations of these centers are considered critical.

The basis of the decisions were taken are to increase the structural richness, to diversify the social encounters and to offer to feed the concept both introverted and extroverted. This concept also inspired by the vernacular structural typologies . Conceptual strategies, structural solutions, the use of technical and material tectonics of historical social buildings become a part of architectural language of the project.

Urban Design Strategies

The Merzifon Business and Life Center has an important location due to its proximity to the historical square in the city. The historic square, which is an important gathering space, feeds the residential districts with numerous commercial places around and creates a vibrant pedestrian area.

It was decided to pedestrianizate Hal Street along with Muammer Aksoy Street by cause of to strengthen

 

vibrant pedestrian circulation and to attract it to the work and life center area. In this way, strong pedestrian boulevards are planned on both sides of the project area.

It was decided to create a public “passage” on the ground level of the project in order to connect these two strong and live pedestrian axes from the square and to increase its permeability.

Architectural Concept

In the conception of the architecture the location of commercial, public, educational and bussines areas in the main mass were critical. The more active pedestrian movement and circulation, and the lifelong education center with commercial and public functions are located on the more accessible floors which are the gorund floor ,1st floor and -1st floor.

 

An atrium that gives a more strong life to the building is located at the center for connecting all these functions .  This gallery space connects all the floors and creates a social environment and increases the light transmission. In this way, the offices located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building can be integrated with socialized areas.
